I enter kitchen this morning. mushroom dey there. I say make I cook. I no plan am e just happen.

I put pan for fire. e dey hot. I add oil I add butter. butter start to melt I drop mushroom inside. e sizzle. i like that sizzle. e dey sweet my ear.

I no stir am for two minute. I just stand dey look am. my wife come ask me wetin i dey do. I say i dey cook. she say you just dey look pan I say na part of cooking. she leave.

I add rice. arborio. i pour from bag. maybe one cup plus half I no sure. I stir. rice start to look like glass for edge.

now broth. e for a pot for side. i warm am. if broth cold rice go hard like stone. i learn this when i cook for my mother in law. she no talk but she face talk.

i add broth one laddle. I stir. rice drink am. I add another. stir drink. another. stir. drink. I dey do this for maybe twenty minute. I no count. my mind dey far.

I taste. rice soft but still get small bite. e done.

I turn off fire. i add parmesan. i grate am myself. no green can for my house. I add the mushroom wey I keep I add parsley. i stir.

now e dey creamy. not too thick. not too thin. just dere.

i taste. need salt. i add small. need pepper. I add small.

I carry the pan go sit for couch. I dey eat from pan. my wife come say you no fit use plate? I say plate dey for cupboard but my leg no fit carry me go there.

she leave again.

biko. this na how I cook no measure. no timer no fancy word just me and the pan and the hunger.
